Nina steals a base
and draws two walks
Wesley Wolverine sophomore catcher Nina Marcano (Townsend, DE) took off on the base paths in her first Beach League game (Myrtle Beach, SC) yesterday evening, Saturday, July 12, right where she left off last spring at DuPont Field, Dover, DE.

Nina, the team stolen base leader last season, swiped another one last night and score a run after drawing two walks against a tough hurler Washington Husky senior pitcher Kasey Stancheck (El Dorado Hills, Calif).
Every run counted as Nina's team lost a closely fought contest 4-3 when the opponents scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh.
In her five innings of work, flame thrower Stanckeck struck out eight and allowed no earned runs. Nina, batting clean up, sharply hit a grounder to shortstop, which she almost beat out, in her only official at bat, after her 2 Ws.
