NINA WRITES...

“This is my room” – Nina
Myrtle Beach has been an even better experience then I could have hoped for so far.

I live in a condo on a golf resort less then a mile away from the field where I play. There are seven girls in my condo and my roommate does remind me very much of (Wesley Wolverine teammate) Steph. She's a speedy outfielder who plays a lot of small ball.

The girls here are very nice and friendly. We go to the local gym where we are given a discount for being Beach League players.

My days consist of relaxing, going to the gym, playing softball and enjoying the Myrtle Beach life with the other Beach Leaguers. We've had a couple of beach trips. We usually play our games around 7:00 or 7:30 PM.

The first game was a bit nerve racking. After I made contact, my nerves slowly went away.

There is a very relaxed and laid back vibe here. If mistakes or errors are made, there is no pressure from teammates. Instead, they offer encouraging words.

I've made contact with the ball in each at bat so far, which I am very happy about.

There are no signals from coaches. If you want to bunt or steal or slap, you can do whenever you want.

The league is designed to help me work on the things I need to work on. The coaches are there for help, if you'd like it, but it's really on you.

I feel pretty good so far. I am taking each inning as it comes and reminding myself it's just a game.

Today my roommates and I slept in. We had planned to go to the beach, since it is our day off, but it seems like a storm is coming through. So we will be going to the gym instead and then preparing a nice meal for ourselves.” -- Nina
