COLLEGE SUMMER LEAGUE

COMING SOON: This blog hopes to have reports about WesleyWolverine
catcher Nina Marcano's experience this month at the College Summer League
for Softball, Myrtle Beach, SC. The reports may come periodically as this
college sophomore meets new people and learns new lessons about
the game of softball and herself.

IF OTHER WOLVERINES have news and/or photos of what they have
been doing this summer – major or minor, please do write to
wesleysoftball@gmail.com about it!

Summer softball report
Nina Marcano will share experiences
at College Summer League for Softball

Nina Marcano as a freshman Wesley
Wolverine led the team with five
home runs, 25 RBIs, eight doubles,
five triples, .683 slugging, ten stolen
bases and seven multi-RBI games.
Last summer they built it -- and they came. It wasn't a “field of dreams”; it was an entire “league of dreams”.

In 2013, softball players of the highest caliber from across the nation gathered together in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to play in what is termed the College Summer League for Softball. They came from SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC 12, Atlantic 10 and more.

New players are back this year for a summer of four teams or more starting July 11 and ending with a championship tournament in early August. They will play seven innings almost every day for a month alongside and against the best college talent in the sport today, while housed in resort condominiums along this popular vacation shoreline.

Nina Marcano is awarded the team MVP for
the 2014 season by Head Coach Juli Greep.
Among the players will be a Wesley Wolverine – 2014 team MVP, sophomore #18 catcher Nina Marcano (Middletown, DE). The team's top slugger and stolen base leader has plans to keep this blog updated regularly on who she meets and what she learns through what undoubtedly will be a fun and demanding pace.

At this time last year, Texas A&M Aggies senior Cassie Tysarczyk was embarking on the same adventure as she also packed her bags to participate in Myrtle Beach's College Summer League for Softball.

Nina picks up Cassie Tysarczyk's autograph at
a USSSA Pride's professional softball game.

Now Cassie plays for the professional softball USSSA Pride, where Nina, earlier this summer, reached across a fence to request an autograph from Cassie, while attending a National Fastpitch Pro game in Salisbury, MD, with Head Coach Juli Greep and several Wolverine teammates. Neither Cassie nor Nina were aware at that moment of the other's connection to the Myrtle Beach league -- or Cassie may have found herself bombarded by more questions than just Nina's request for the prized autograph!

After the 4th of July, check this space often for news from Nina and her summer softball adventure.
