KIRA WAGAR

For an afternoon as spectators
Wolverines get back
to high school softball

The Wesley Wolverines were in the stands today as spectators, decked out in their uniform travel shirts, at a local high school game.

They took time from practice to watch Woodbridge Blue Raiders take on nearby Poltech Panthers, last years runners-up in the Delaware state championship game. Polytech also is the high school where Wolverine freshman #9 P/OF Lily Engel (Dover, DE) graduated and lettered for the past four years.

The Wesley team attended to show support for Kira Wagar, a teacher and assistant coach at Woodbridge High. Kira, for the two previous seasons, had been the Wesley assistant coach in softball and volleyball for Head Coach Juli Greep.

The Wolverines were, at times, as loud and boisterous for Kira and her Blue Raiders as they are in their own dugout cheering on their teammates during college games. It seemed to work for a while, though the game ended abruptly after just 5 innings with a Panther 12-2 victory. Polytech grad Lily could be heard shouting encouragements to both sides, especially when a few of her special old high school friends came to bat.

Below are several photos taken at the high school game...
