BEACH LEAGUE STARTS

Three weeks of games
The Beach League
camp starts today

Wesley Wolverine catcher Nina Marcano is on her way to The Beach League summer games, Pawley Island, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Goodbyes for a short time given dad Jose
by Nina and mom Ivelisse. Jose will join
Nina in Myrtle Beach toward the league's end.
Goodbyes have been said to dad Jose, who stays behind for now in Townsend, DE. Glove, bat, and catcher's gear packed, Nina, mom Ivelisse and brother Carlos started their 9+ hour trek yesterday, driving south down the entire Delmarva Peninsula.

“They left last night for Exmore, Virginia” Jose reported about their first stop on the long trip.

“We reached the Holiday Inn around midnight,” added Nina.

Exmore is located at the bottom of the peninsula. It is a small town of 1,449 and dates its history as far back as 1661.

Extremely rural, Exmore sits on a sliver of land between the famed Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic ocean.

“Chesapeake bay bridge
and tunnel this morning,”
Nina wrote in a text message.

Then, it was up early this morning as this three member Wolverine family team tackled the 23-mile-long crossing of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel over to Norfolk, VA, where they are still 5-1/2 hours (337 miles) away from Myrtle Beach and Nina's new home for the next thee weeks at the True Blue Resort.

“All is well, everyone is in good spirits and eager to meet and greet (the Beach League coaches and teammates),” said Jose.

Many other college players, near and far, are traveling today, too, toward the same destination.

Players from north, west, and south and major conferences, like the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC 12, Atlantic 10, etc., will gather this afternoon for the beginning of the three week camp and softball league.

As you read this post, Nina undoubtedly has already unpacked and joined her four new roommates to sign-in for the 2014 Beach League season!
