TEAM PINK

Schutte Park, Dover
Three Wolverines playing
in summer slow pitch league

It's the perfect hot summer evening -- that is, for softball fans. It's co-ed slow pitch under the lights at Schutte Park in Dover, Delaware.

The teams go at it plenty hard. It's exciting with spectacular plays -- can even be intense at times -- but the rules are not exactly the same as fastpitch. Home runs are outs. Walks can earn two bags. Scores tend to be high.

Of course, it's also teams of very competitive men and women playing together.

Wesley Wolverines are right in the thick of it.

Wesley softball outfielder Steph Caracozza and shortstop/ catcher Morgan Seymour PLUS Wesley baseball pitcher Seth Penniston play for the Team Pink team. Last night,  Steph roamed right field, Morgan covered first base, while Seth held down the shortstop position.

Team Pink has special cheers for the Wesley players. Whether they are at bat, fielding a ball, or running the bases, you can hear the Team Pink bench encouraging their college players with boisterous shouts of “Go Wolverines”, “Wol – ver- riiinnne”, and “Wolverines lead the way!”

It's been a successful season. Team Pink finished second in the league and now are battling opponents again in playoff games.

Below are several action photos of Steph and Morgan from Wednesday evening's contests. ASIDE: Apologies for no shots of Seth on the field. Did not learn he, too, was a Wolverines before the setting sun and park lights made photography very difficult.

Wesley Wolverines Morgan, Seth, and Steph show off Team Pink's trophy for finishing in second place with a 12-4 record at the end of this summer season. The first place team, C-Schell, had just one loss, which was against Team Pink!
