Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star game

The Delaware's annual Blue-Gold All-Star high school softball game was held yesterday, Wednesday, June 18, in Dover, DE, with future Wesley Wolverines making their presence felt.

Wolverine freshman Tiarra Maddox had third base covered and Wolverine freshman Lauren Hoffman roamed centerfield for the Gold team, a squad which largely consisted of Southern Delaware players.

Lauren picked up her diploma from Appoquinimink High (Middletown, DE). Tiarra graduated from Woodbridge High (Bridgeville, DE), where Kira Wagar, a 2013 Wesley Wolverine softball assistant coach, teaches now and also is the high school's assistant softball coach.

Lauren singled and scored, while Tiarra drove home a run with a sacrifice fly
, as the Gold team won handily 10-4.

Last year's Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star game MVP was also this year's Wesley Wolverine MVP for the 2014 season, sophomore catcher Nina Marcano.

In the stands at last night's game was an enthused Wolverine cheering section whooping it up for the two incoming freshmen. This was Nina, outfielder Devin Mackay, outfielder Steph Caracozza, catcher/ shortstop Morgan Seymour, third base Kayla Fromal, second base Bre Hartman, first base Sam Mahoski and head coach Juli Greep.

Everyone is in town this week for the Firefly Music Festival fund-raising project, which starts later today.

After the game, the group gathered at Wesley West for a workout, where they met Wolverine pitcher Lily Engel, who had just ended her day's summer work schedule at the Dover Mall, and Wolverine volleyball players also in town for the festival fundraiser. Instead of a softball, someone tossed out a volleyball and it was game on!
