Sunday, last shift,
four-day marathon
The Wesley Wolverines fundraising workers must be exhausted.
The Firefly Music Festival has been headlined now by several local media outlets as a tremendous success. The arrival of 80,000 fans may total that number or many, many more! And, most come hungry.
Yesterday, Saturday, June 21, the Wesley young ladies worked their 3rd and 4th shifts. The Verde Fresh stand, where the softball team cooks and serves Mexican cuisine, had one especially exhausting four hour onslaught of customers without a single minute's letup. During this rush – and there were many other busy periods -- multi-lines of seemingly endless music fans massed nonstop around the concession tent (see photos below).
There have been breaks, however. Whenever they could sneak away, Wolverines quickly joined the crowds swarming around Third Eye Blind, 21 Pilots, Imagine Dragons, and Outkast in particular.
In season, these athletes have several chants shouted from the dugout to boost fellow teammates during a game. Now, they have their own Firefly song to encourage festival goers to toss in extra cash after a purchase. It goes...
“We got a tip!”That's nothing Foo Fighters is going to steal. But it does attract positive attention that the customers love!
“What?”
“We got a tip!”
“What?”
“We got a T-I-P!”
